The Community Academy of Philadelphia Envirothon Team took home another 1st place finish in the Philadelphia County Envirothon held on April 24, 2019 at Cobbs Creek Park. They faced three other teams from Walter B Saul High School and soundly beat each one of them in the following tested categories:  soils/land use, aquatic  ecology , forestry, and wildlife. Their only stumble came with questions dealing with current environmental issues.

The team is comprised of juniors Gionna Clift, Gabriel Colon Sierra, Maximo Lebron Leon, Ethan Ortiz, and Juan Madera and is moderated by AP Biology and Environmental Science Teacher, Sara Gallagher. They will now represent Philadelphia County at the Pennsylvania Envirothon state competition being held on May 21-22 at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. We wish them the best of luck with the next stage of their journey towards a possible invitation to compete at Nationals.
